Ubisoft has been known release an Assassin’s Creed game every year. It skipped out on releasing a game in 2016 to focus on the Assassin’s Creed movie. That, however, proved lackluster since the film only grossed $54.6 million at the U.S. box office. (The film’s budget is $125 million) Well, it looks like the video game company is planning to release a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2017. This is especially the case with a possible leaked screenshot that suggests an Assassin’s Creed in Egypt.
The screenshot hints at the return of using boats, just like in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue. It was posted via Reddit, and to add to the screenshot’s authenticity, Eurogamer has three different sources confirming it.
Hints of Assassin’s Creed in Egypt
If you look at the screenshot closely, you’ll notice the quest description saying: “Follow Shadya to Khenut’s villa.” Shadya has Arabic roots. An Egyptian actress has used a variation of that name. Of course, the bigger clue is Khenut’s villa. Khenut is an Egyptian Queen and wife of King Unas during the Fifth dynasty of Egypt. I’m going to bet that the river we’re seeing is part of the Nile River. There’s another side mission where you can assassinate a crocodile.
If the game does indeed take place in Egypt, I’m definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully, that means we’ll get to parkour on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Also, the desert and sand have made way for some great visuals. For example, the gorgeous view of Nathan Drake parachuting over the desert in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
It’s still not certain if the Assassin’s Creed “Egyptian” game will be released this year. However, looking at the screenshot, it looks like the game is shaping up nicely.
