Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film is coming home. After nabbing over $600 million dollars the box office, Fox finally announced details of the Blu-ray release.
In addition to the 90 minutes of content, every copy of Logan comes with Logan Noir—James Mangold’s black and white version of the film. To celebrate the release of Noir, Fox is teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse for a one-night only event. The event will take place across the country on Tuesday, May 16th starting at 8 PM EST. Together with the screening, there will be an exclusive, live-streaming Q&A with director James Mangold afterward.
“During [the] production of Logan I took many black and white photographs and noticed how striking and dramatic our gritty settings and characters appeared in monochrome,” said Mangold. “Then, while editing, Fox and I started posting some of the black and white stills online and fans also began to respond enthusiastically, many hoping that they would get a chance to see the finished film in carefully timed, high contrast black and white. Well. Sometimes hope becomes reality.”
Next, let’s take a look at what special features we can expect from the Ultra HD Combo Pack. The Blu-ray features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the movie in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc of the film in high definition, and a copy of the movie in UltraViolet Digital HD. You can also catch the following special features on the high definition Blu-ray:
- Logan Noir – black and white version of the film
- Audio commentary by Director James Mangold
- Deleted scenes with optional audio commentary by James Mangold (Blu-ray™ only)
- Making Logan – behind-the-scenes documentary (Blu-ray™ only)
As shown above, there is a lot to look forward to with the Logan release. But what about the retailer exclusives? Well, we’re glad you asked. Wal-Mart (via THR) will have a nine-poster collection featuring every Hugh Jackman Wolverine appearance. As per usual, Best Buy (via IGN) will have a sleek steelbook with artwork from Steve McNiven (Old Man Logan). Furthermore, Target will receive a 36-page photo book consisting of black and white stills taken from the set of Logan.
