So Long NES Classic
A Nintendo representative has revealed to IGN the following:
“Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product.”
With the recent announcement, prices of the systems have shot up with a few auctions on eBay already surpassing $200 which is pretty crazy. According to the same article, Nintendo never originally planned the NES Classic to be a long-term product. But thanks due to high demand, it eventually released more since its release back in November of last year.
The NES Classic Edition system is a very tiny version of the Nintendo Entertainment System. The console helped popularized video games back in 1985. It’s very easy to use. Just plug the Classic Edition into your TV, pick up a controller, and you should be able to enjoy NES games on the spot.
If Nintendo ever plans to release an SNES Classic Edition, hopefully they plan ahead. That way there shouldn’t be any shortages. Then again the NES Classic Edition shows that if you really want it, you should pre-order it right away or try your luck.
