Star Wars Battlefront 2 official trailer and single player campaign details revealed!

At this year’s Star Wars Celebration, EA and Dice have finally revealed the official trailer (see below) for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2. Now the first Battlefront (reboot) game from EA received a fairly well reception despite being a far cry from the original titles. Even though the game looked amazing and had ear-shattering audio, fans felt they were still shortchanged because the game was strictly multiplayer only. Luckily with this next iteration, that’s about to change.

EA and DICE have promised on the inclusion of a single player campaign, and after watching the trailer, it seems like they’re prepared to deliver on it. This new campaign takes place in a 30 year time span starting after Return of the Jedi and continuing through to The Force Awakens. The story itself follows Iden Versio, an Imperial Commander in an elite “special forces” unit. Throughout the campaign, players will also get a chance to play as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. It really seems like they’re making an effort to bridge the gap in the films.

So far, I can definitely say I’m excited to play through this all new campaign story. And if you’re wondering, yes, this story is considered canon to the Star Wars Universe. All the new characters and story were said to be developed “in close partnership with the story group at Lucasfilm.” I really feel like EA and DICE will make good on their promise, especially because of who is handling the campaign. Taking the reigns will be Jade Raymond, former head of Ubisoft Toronto and former producer for Assassin’s Creed, along with her Motive studio.

Another bit of information that was revealed at both the panel and in the trailer, was that you’ll be able to participate in battles across all 8 films (I’m sure Episode 8 content will get added in upon release of the film). Which in turn means we’ll get to play as Darth Maul, Qui Gon Jinn, and other prequel characters and settings we didn’t have access to before. I think I’m most excited to fight in the space battle from Episode 3 over Coruscant. What are you most excited for in this next Battlefront game? Let us know in the comments below.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 17, 2017.
