Nintendo has revealed a few new Nintendo Switch peripherals that will see a release in the following months.
First up is the Joy-Con battery pack. The attachable battery pack uses AA batteries to extend the life of your Joy-Con controllers. It wasn’t specified exactly how much extra battery life this will give. But it doesn’t seem you really need it unless it actually provides power to the Nintendo Switch. The Joy-Cons alone have around 20 hours of battery life compared to the Nintendo Switch’s three hours when not being charged.
No price was announced, but it’s expected to retail for around $30.
Nintendo also revealed it would be releasing a new “Neon Yellow” Joy-Con controller, and it will retail for $79.99. This controller definitely for those wanting to stand out from the crowd. They also won’t have a hard time searching for it if it goes missing.
Both the Joy-Con battery pack and Neon Yellow will be released on June 16th.
Extending the Nintendo Switch’s Life
Finally, let’s take a look at one third party accessory that deals with a few of the Switch’s glaring issues. The SwitchCharge from InDemand Design is designed to add an additional 12 hours of battery life to your Nintendo Switch. It features two game cartridge slots to store two games with you on the go. Most importantly, it moves the charging port from the bottom of the device to the side, making it easier to play while charging the system.
It sounds like a nice device if you plan on taking your Switch with you out on the go, especially once Nintendo finally releases any video streaming apps like Netflix or Hulu.
The SwitchCharge is currently set to launch in August. It’s currently running a successful Indiegogo Campaign where it has currently raised $184,580 out of its original goal of $80,000.
