Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (review)

Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Logitech has been around for a few decade. Without a doubt, it is still one of the most recognizable names in the tech industry. The company recently released the Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. It has been designed from the ground up in collaboration with some of the top eSports athletes in the world.

The keyboard features the Romer-G mechanical switches which that have an extremely low 1.5mm short-throw actuation point. (It has a 25% faster actuation than other mechanical keyboards on the market.) It can last an average of 70 million key presses, giving you both precision and endurance every time you play. Logitech also decided to forego the ten-key portion of the keyboard to extend the player’s range of movement with their mice.

The G Pro is also excellent for transport thanks to its detachable cable and onboard memory. These allow you to take your customized RGB lighting effects with you wherever you go. We took a test run with the Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming keyboard in various games that already had profiles built-in to the LGS software. It includes League of Legends, Project Cars, Final Fantasy XIV, Magicka, and of course Overwatch.

One of the keyboard’s biggest highlights is the customization options. It has an adjustable angle, 300+ presets available with the LGS software, and programmable F-key macros. This is mostly thanks to the excellent Logitech Gaming Software available for free on Logitech’s website. The keyboard has 2 separate kickstands which give it 3 different adjustable angles to keep players of all sizes comfortable for those longer gaming sessions. The keyboard’s response time is amazing for high-intensity games like League of Legends and Overwatch. Sometimes a split second difference when activating a skill can make all the difference between getting the kill or watching the kill cam.

Along with the faster actuation speed, the keyboard is surprisingly quiet. It makes it easier for others to sleep during those late night sessions. The keyboard also features 26 key-rollover so that activating multiple skills at once feels fluid, timely and accurate. This also makes it easier to program even more macros for MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV, which has more control and options above the programmed in-game ones. The built-in profiles are great for swapping games on the fly when swapping genres. Changing one setting can instantly remap your same buttons from your favorite simulation racing game to your saved controls in the latest hack-and-slash game.

Logitech G Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Final Reaction

While the keyboard is plug and play ready, it hits its stride when you take the time to program your favorite color schemes, macros, and other available functions. The most important factors when it comes to picking out a new keyboard are the size, performance and customizable options. Thankfully the Logitech G Pro Gaming Mechanical keyboard has all these things and more. It’s a winning combination that lends itself well to those competing in the pros or others working towards that goal. This is by far one of the sleekest and stylish keyboards on the market and should definitely be at the top of everyone’s minds when considering a new high-end keyboard.

The Logitech G Pro Gaming Mechanical Keyboard is currently available online with an MSRP of $129.99.

Rating: 4.5/5 Atoms
