Star Wars Celebration was a great weekend for Star Wars fans. Lucasfilm debuted the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Disney XD released the trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 4. For theme park fans, we have some new insight at the Star Wars-themed lands at the Disney Parks along with a new video. The featurette showcases the Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering team working together to bring the world of Star Wars to life at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

“One of the areas that we’re paying particularly close attention to is the story,” said Asa Kalama, Walt Disney Imagineering’s executive creative director. “We’re creating a place that is an extension of the Star Wars universe. It’s not a recreation of an experience that you might have seen on screen, but something totally brand new.”

Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm vice president, said, “There will be things in there that will feel very familiar, things in there that they’ve always wanted to see, and yet on top of that, we’re also designing and creating new experiences that will really enhance what the Star Wars universe is.”

The team revealed that they’re not ready to announce all the details yet for the project. However, once they can make more detailed announcements, they’re hopeful that fans will be excited.

The Star Wars-themed Lands will be immersive and interactive

Star Wars Celebration had some new information for fans. For example, immersion is very important, and what you do at one location may affect the outcome of another. Let’s say you’re piloting the Millenium Falcon, and you do a bad job. If you visit a nearby cantina, you’ll get some angry words from a certain Wookiee.

Here’s what the Disney Park blog had to say:

The remote village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.

Fans hoping for Hoth land or Tatooine land will be disappointed since this will be something new.

The Star Wars-themed lands will open in 2019 at Disneyland at Walt Disney World.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017. Star Wars Rebels Season 4 premieres Fall 2017.
