Could Spider-Man, the Defenders, and Agents of Shield cross paths on-screen?

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be releasing this coming summer, and it’s the return of your favorite web-headed wall crawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That said, the cast for the MCU has grown so much within the past ten years. It seems like only yesterday that there were only four people on the team: Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. After the many different movies, the MCU has reached double digits for its roster. This is, of course, adding the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy since it’s inevitable that everyone meets in Avengers: Infinity War.

With all the different characters, why is Marvel Studios not incorporating anyone from their television series? Well it seems to stem from the fact that Kevin Feige only wants to focus on the movie aspect. He doesn’t seem to want to work with their television brothers and sisters. After many seasons of the television series Agents of Shield and the Marvel/Netflix specials, none of the main heroes have linked with the other characters. We can only speculate as to why this is, but one thing that was recently revealed. Producer Eric Carrol of Spider-Man: Homecoming stated that he wouldn’t mind Spider-Man crossing over into the Defenders territory.

Here are his exact words on how he felt about the crossover idea with the Marvel Television heroes like Daredevil and Luke Cage:

Not specifically referenced in this movie, no. I think that’s something we all think would be really fun and it’s definitely a card I would love to see played, if not sooner rather than later. But as of now, it’s not referenced in this movie.

I mean it does make a lot of sense if Spider-Man did cross over and run into the Defenders. That’s because they take care of the low-level street crime as opposed to the Avengers who take on aliens and otherworldly beings like Dormammu and Thanos. Spider-Man is actually the bridge between the upper tier villains versus the low-level villains that these heroes deal with. Peter Parker has fought purse snatchers, bank robbers, and criminal bosses on one day. The next day, he’s fighting super-powered beings like Juggernaut, Doctor Doom, and the Skrulls. So it does actually sound like a good idea if Spider-Man did suddenly show up on the Marvel television series or vice versa.

Let’s Make It Happen

Whoever holds all these cards to get this ball rolling, whether it be Kevin Feige, Disney, or Perlmutter, should do so. Someone needs to get their head out of their ass and give the fans the proper crossovers that need to happen between all these beloved characters.

Next on the docket is getting the Fantastic Four and company back with the MCU. CHOP! CHOP! Marvel!
