DreamWorks Animation‘s The Boss Baby performed better than expected at the domestic box office, opening to an estimated $49 million in 3,773 theaters, an average of $12,987 per location. Receiving an A- CinemaScore from audiences, the animated film was expected to open in the $30-million range. Internationally, The Boss Baby has grossed $59 million so far, for a worldwide total of $108 million. Directed by Tom McGrath and based on Marla Frazee’s book, the 20th Century Fox release features the voices of Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Tobey Maguire, and Miles Bakshi.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast came in close in second place with $47.5 million its third weekend, but internationally it easily topped with yet another $66.5 million. That means the Bill Condon-directed live-action adaptation has now brought in $395.5 million domestically and $480.8 million overseas, for a global total of $876.3 million. The film will open in Japan on April 21. Made for $160 million, Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.

Ghost in the Shell (Paramount) debuted in third place with just $19 million from 3,440 theaters, an average of $5,523. Internationally, the live-action adaptation grossed $40.1 million from 50 markets. Made for $110 million, Ghost in the Shell has earned a total of $59.1 million. Receiving a B CinemaScore, the film will open in China on April 7. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the film stars Scarlett Johansson, Beat Takeshi, Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbæk, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Yutaka Izumihara, Tuwanda Manyimo, and Rila Fukushima.

Lionsgate’s Power Rangers dropped two spots to fourth and 64% in ticket sales for a $14.5 million second weekend. The $100 million has earned $65 million in North America. Overseas, Power Rangers added $8.1 million and has a sum of $32.7 million. Worldwide, the film is at $97.9 million. The Dean Israelite-directed Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, and Bill Hader.

Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island rounded out the top five with $8.8 million and has collected $147.8 million domestically. Internationally, Kong: Skull Island added $34.6 million this weekend to push its overseas total to $329.5 million and worldwide total to $477.3 million. Made for $185 million, the Jordan Vogt-Roberts film stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary and John C. Reilly.

The James Mangold-directed Logan (20th Century Fox) earned $6.2 million in sixth place to bring its five-week North American total to $211.9 million. Produced for $97 million, Logan stars Hugh Jackman in his last appearance as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart in his last turn as Charles Xavier, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Dafne Keen.

In seventh place, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ Get Out grossed $5.8 million and has now earned $156.9 million. Internationally, the Jordan Peele thriller has earned $10.3 million, for a worldwide total of $167.2 million. Starring Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones and Catherine Keener, Get Out cost just $4.5 million to make.

Sony Pictures’ sci-fi thriller Life, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds, dropped four spots to eighth with $5.6 million its second weekend. The Daniel Espinosa-directed film has earned $22.4 million but cost $58 million to make.

Warner Bros.’ CHIPS grossed $4 million its second weekend and has collected $14.4 million. Internationally, the film has earned $3.9 million. Written and directed by Dax Shepard, and starring Shepard, Michael Pena, Rosa Salazar, Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, and Vincent D’Onofrio, the adaptation was made for $25 million.

Focus Features also opened The Zookeeper’s Wife in 541 theaters, where the drama earned $3.3 million, good for tenth place. Directed by Niki Caro, The Zookeeper’s Wife stars Jessica Chastain, Johan Heldenbergh, and Daniel Brühl.
