New German Netflix series Dark to spearhead a European content initiative
Sometimes the simplest, deceivingly generic title works best. Such is the case with Netflix’s new series Dark, a “family drama with a supernatural twist” that marks the first time the channel has produced original content in Germany and is part of an initiative to develop programs in a myriad European markets.
And judging by the trailer Netflix just dropped…Dark is indeed dark.

The series was announced at a press conference in Berlin this morning. It features a cast of largely unknown German actors in a 10 episode tale of a missing child that sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers. Their search for a culprit unearths a small town’s sins and secrets.A familiar set up (Twin Peaks-ish in fact) but its the execution that counts and this series looks stylish, ruthless, oddly erotic and totally…dark.
Dark will premiere sometime this winter.
