Capcom announces Disney Afternoon Collection

If you’re old enough to remember the theme song to Duck Tales, then chances are, you were also someone who grabbed every 8-bit NES title that Disney licensed out back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. And although these games may seem pedestrian by today’s CGI-infused, hyperrealistic platformers standards, there is a simple joy that comes from the memories of trying to pogo your way across a bed of spikes as Scrooge McDuck, or trying to toss an apple just right as Chip in Rescue Rangers.

Capcom is hoping to tap into this deep wellspring of nostalgia by rereleasing a series of games from this era that will be sure to bring back some fond memories for many gamers. The Disney Afternoon Collection features Chip’n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip’n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Duck Tales 2, and TaleSpin. These six games have been updated to HD and adds some “easy mode” features such as the ability to rewind if a player messes up. Though, if you’re doing this, you are missing the point of the controller slamming frustration and joy of having to perfectly time a jump or attack dozens of times before succeeding, and you should be shamed for your lack of reverence for the way these games were meant to be played.

The collection will be available on PS4, XBox One, and PC on April 18th and will be priced at $19.99.
