New Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay trailer lets you make the ultimate Pathfinder

We’re just one month away from the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, and we couldn’t wait for it to get here any sooner. To satiate our hunger for the time being though, Bioware has decided to release a new “gameplay series” that gives us a deeper look into the combat for the game. So far, this is the most we’ve seen of the actual game and I must say that it looks gorgeous.

The video itself walks us through the various weapon types, combat skills, tech skills and biotic abilities available to players. There’s actually a plethora of information to take in that’s revealed. Here’s a short breakdown:

Weapons:

Weapons are going to be one of four types not counting melee weapons (which there are plenty including hammers, knives, and omni tool) – pistol, shotgun, assault rifle and sniper rifle. This is very similar to the original Mass Effect‘s weapon loadout. Those basic weapons are split into 3 classes – Milky Way, Remnant and Helios. Milky Way are basic ballistic weapons that fire standard projectiles and use magazines. Remnant are all fast energy-based weapons and have an overheat/cooldown. Finally, Helios are plasma-based and are heat-seeking, some with even a charge ability.

Skills:

Unlike previous installments of the series, you don’t have to pick a particular class from the start. So what does this mean for you? A lot. No longer do you have to sacrifice having biotics for tech, or tech for combat. You can build your character with whichever attributes you want, and tailor it to your specific play style. Meaning you can have a character that is good with tech (flamethrower, freeze blast), has a biotic (pull, singularity) ability and combat (grenades, mines) skills. Granted, if you go towards one skill set more than the others, you will have more perks at your disposal.

I must say, this game is looking better and better each time, including what seems to be a much needed update to the game mechanics. I cannot wait to get my hands on this, as I have been a long time Mass Effect fan. Check out the trailer below for all of the aforementioned info plus more.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available on March 21st for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Windows PC. Unless you have EA Access and/or Origin Access, then you’ll get to play 5 days earlier.
