Frederick Raynal and his team in Lyon, France, have been chugging away on their eerie survival horror game 2Dark since the time I wrote an article on here in which I explained the background and design of the game. In it you play a former police detective named Mr. Smith whose task is to rescue children from a gruesome fate at the hands of a number of serial killers based in part on those from horror and slasher flicks of the past. The rest of the details are in the linked article, but this new trailer shines a light on Mr. Smith’s motivation for his self-charged quest.
The beginning of the trailer shows a very depressed Mr. Smith remembering the events that brought about his retirement from the Gloomywood Police. We are shown a flashback in which Mr. Smith was camping with his wife and two children, and the family trip takes a gruesome turn as Mr. Smith finds his wife murdered and his children abducted by a shadowy figure in his car as Mr. Smith fails to catch them. For the rest of the trailer, we are treated to animated scenes of what you will be doing, including Mr. Smith sneaking up on a killer and hitting him over the head with the blunt end of a hatchet and encountering the Pig Mask wearing killer.
It’s another little teaser to keep you going while you wait for what looks to be another masterpiece from one of gaming’s less remembered masters.
