Bling out with Yu-Gi-Oh! The Darkside of Dimensions Movie Pack Gold Edition

Last week, Konami released Yu-Gi-Oh! The Darkside of Dimensions in select theaters in North America. The movie sees the return of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series cast with Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba facing off against a new enemy featuring brand new artwork and cards in the trading card game.

Back in July of last year, Konami released a movie pack which featured 57 cards that included a combination of new cards and brand new artwork for cards such as the Black Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Slifer the Sky Dragon.

If you thought the original set lacked a bit of bling, here comes the Gold Edition! In this recently released set, all 57 cards are now Gold Ultimate Rares. Featuring three packs in each box, you get 15 cards plus 2 Gold Secret Rares.

I’m actually quite fond of the Gold Secret Rares, but not so much for the majority of the set. There are a few cards that do look good with the gold border, but that tends to be mainly the normal monsters that have the basic yellow border. I put the few original Movie Pack cards I have next to the Gold, and the originals just look so much better. There is a thing as too much gold, and I would have loved to see some never-before-released cards added as Gold instead of just reprinting this set all in Gold.

The movie pack has quite a few nice cards to add in a variety of decks, but nothing that will change the meta but some fun cards to add in a gadget deck, dark magician or Blue-Eyes deck.
