The Game of Thrones/Westworld crossover that almost was

And the collective minds of nerds everywhere just exploded. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were asked about the rumor that George R.R. Martin had discussed the idea of a Game of Thrones world as part of the Westworld universe. For fans of the original movie, this idea isn’t completely far-fetched. The movie actually included other worlds beyond just the Westworld, which no doubt may make its way into the show at some point.

However, perhaps not wanting to mess with what is already shaping up to be a major hit for HBO, the Westworld showrunners declined the creative crossover.  Joy said to EW, “I need to believe that dragons are real. I want them to be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!” So barring a change of heart from Nolan and Joy, I guess it will just be up to me and my Dolores/Arya fanfic to make this a reality.
