Twitch announces benefits for Amazon Prime members

Ever since Amazon bought Twitch, the world’s largest livestreaming platform, we’ve been wondering how their relationship would work. Today at Twitch Con 2016, our questions have been answered in the form of Twitch Prime.

Twitch Prime allows Amazon Prime members to receive ad-free viewing on Twitch along with exclusive deals on new and pre-order boxed games. There will also be “free loot” in the form of games, skins, characters, and boosts. Not only that, but Prime users will be able to subscribe to one streamer every 30 days for free. Twitch CEO Emmet Shear explained during the keynote today that it’s “literally giving your favorite streamer free money.”

Amazon could drum up a large amount of Prime users from the already massive Twitch audience. Twitch Turbo will still cost $8.99, but will not feature any of the previously-mentioned benefits offered by Twitch Prime. A 30-day free trial is available now. Until then, Amazon Prime costs $10.99 per month or $99 annually to embrace the free two-day shipping (on eligible products), Amazon music streaming, free movie streaming, and more.

For every 100,000 new subscriptions, Twitch and Amazon will be donathing $100,000 to GameChanger charity, regardless on if the subs are free or paid.
