The second movie in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is one of the most anticipated films of the next few years. Naturally, there are a lot of questions about the production and what we’re to expect. One of these questions relates to Groot. If you recall, when last we saw the tree-like superhero, he became a little baby tree after saving his friends in the movie’s climax. So, some fans are wondering who will voice baby Groot considering Vin Diesel, an actor who has an incredibly deep, mature voice, provided said voice for adult Groot in the first film.
When asked about Groot’s voice on Twitter, director James Gunn provided a pretty blunt answer. “You don’t think the guy that plays Homer Simpson talks like that all the time, do you? Vin is an actor capable of doing all sorts of voices.”
It’s great news that Vin Diesel will return and it might be funny hearing a big burly man like Diesel produce a childish voice for a baby tree. He’ll join returning cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Bradley Cooper when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
