ToeJam & Earl: Back In The Groove coming in 2017

It’s been 14 years since the funky aliens ToeJam and Earl last appeared in a video game. (Their last adventure was ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth on the original Xbox System.) Back in February of 2015, a Kickstarter campaign was created to bring the duo back, and it raised $508,637 with over 8,000 backers, which was more than their original goal of $400,000.

Just recently a new Steam page for the game appeared teasing a 2017 release date along with a teaser trailer, which showed off some gameplay with a more cartoonish look for the two funky aliens. This actually fits a lot better while retaining their Sega Genesis look with some stylish outfits.

The game will pick up after the events of ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth and have both ToeJam and Earl survive Earth and rebuild their rocket. They won’t be alone. Joining ToeJam and Earl will be GeekJam, Peabo, and Flo, Earl’s mom, as they try to find all the rocket ship parts due to Earl pressing the black hole button that caused the ship to split apart.

The game will feature up to four-player co-op, so you will be able to play through the campaign with your friends, or the Hyper Funk Zone.

The game will be released in 2017, for both Steam and consoles, thanks to Adult Swim Games. The game will including 26 songs, 13 of them remakes, along with new Earthlings, presents, hats, terrain types, plus secret areas to explore.
