The Muppets’ Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem performed live in concert?

Now I won’t lie, I have seen The Muppets live many years ago when I was clearly much younger. That being said, I never thought I’d see Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem perform live at outdoor music festivals like Outside Lands, and that’s exactly what happened. The five-piece muppet rock band shared the stage Sunday with such act like Radiohead, Chance The Rapper, Major Lazer and Zedd.

During their 20-minute set, The Electric Mayhem dove into some of their classic hits like “Can You Picture That?” They also did a cover of The Mowgli’s “San Francisco” and the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends,” in the vein of Joe Crocker. What really had me perplexed was how exactly did they pull this off?

Many believe that voice actors Bill Barrett (Dr. Teeth0), Matt Vogel (Floyd), David Rudman (Janice), Eric Johnson (Animal) and Dave Goelz (Zoot) did actually perform the songs live; it is just unsure as to how they actually did it. Some believe that the voice actors are under the stage where the big Electric Mayhem sign is. Others think they performed backstage with a full band and had someone else handle the puppeteer. Regardless of how it was done, it is really cool and makes me wish I knew about the performance before hand.

No word yet if there will be more live performances for the band in the near future, but you can watch Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem’s full set from Outside Lands in the video below.
