In a posting on the PlayStation blog, Sony has confirmed that its PlayStation Now service will be coming to Windows PC.
PlayStation Now is a game service that allows users to enjoy PlayStation-exclusive titles, such as God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, and many more starting at $19.99 a month. The app is currently only available on various Sony’s consoles along with select Sony and Samsung Smart TVs, but with the service now coming to PC, it’s just one more way to enjoy Sony’s library of games almost anywhere.
Alongside this news comes the announcement that there will also be a USB adapter released that will allow users to wirelessly connect a Dualshock 4 controller to PC and MAC devices.
The Dualshock 4 USB adapter will be compatible with PlayStation Now titles on PC, as well as Remote Play through a PC or Mac. The adapter won’t be necessary to take advantage of the PlayStation Now service, as it just offers an alternative over carrying a micro USB cable.
The recommended specifications for running the PlayStation Now service smoothly on PC are also listed in the blog post:
- Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
- 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
- 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
- Sound card; USB port
A minimum 5Mbps connection is required to use PS Now on any device. We recommend a wired Internet connection for the optimal experience.
PlayStation Now on PC is launching in North America and Europe “very soon”, and the Dualshock 4 USB adapter is expected to launch in September, with a recommended retail price of $24.99 USD.
