HBO has been very mysterious with its new series, Westworld, based on the sci-fi/Western film by Michael Crichton. Now the network has released a new trailer that shines some light on the world of Westworld. There are two different versions of the trailer, one for general audiences and one for mature audiences.
Here’s the mature version:
Judging from the trailer, audiences are going to be sympathizing with Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), an artificial person who realizes that her life’s a lie. Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), the creator of Westworld, has a very creepy vibe and doesn’t seem to care about the feelings of the artificial people. (They are fake, by the way.) Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), the creator of the artificial people, realizes he’s done something wrong. Ed Harris’ character is inspired by the villain in the ’70s film, and it looks like he’s also aware that he’s an artificial person.
Westworld is an amusement park that lets guests live out their fantasies in the West … and the huge world and artificial people help to give them that immersion.
Westworld premieres on October 2, 2016.
