Marvel shows on Disney+ will be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe

Loki Marvel Cinematic Universe

Disney+ is going all out with pumping out high profile shows like the upcoming Star Wars series called The Mandalorian and Marvel series featuring Loki. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will be behind the Marvel shows, so one can safely assume that these series will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now we have confirmation from the man himself.

Under the Marvel side, we know for sure that Loki will be having his own show with Tom Hiddleston returning as the god of mischief. As for other shows like the one involving Scarlet Witch, they are still rumors, but we do know that if these shows do come to Disney+, they will be more connected to the MCU than Netflix’s Marvel shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Punisher. It’s not surprising since the Disney+ Marvel shows are being produced by Marvel Studios. (The Netflix ones were done by Marvel TV.)

“These will be Marvel Studios productions,” Feige tells ComicBook.com. “They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.”

So when will we find out about the other shows? Feige is still keeping things close to his chest until after Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

“As we’ve been doing for years, aren’t going to announce anything post Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Far From Home until post Endgame and Spider-Man,” Feige explained.

What would a Loki show be like? According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will have the god of mischief popping up throughout history as he influences historical events. The show will have Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty) serve as the showrunner, and he’ll be writing the pilot.

The last time we saw Loki, he met his end at the hand of Thanos. If he remains dead after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it would make sense for the show to take place in the past.

As for Netflix’s Marvel shows, they attempted to connect the characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Feige had no plans of including them in the actual MCU, and later seasons stopped referencing events from the Marvel Studios films.
