Paramount and F. Gary Gray to bring Hasbro’s MASK to the big screen

Paramount Pictures and F. Gary Gray will be working together to bring the short-lived toy franchise MASK to the big screen, according to Deadline.

F. Gary Gray has been in the film industry for nearly 30 years, helping to bring the Friday franchise to life with the first film and slowly making a name for himself leading up to the hit 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton, which was followed by the eight installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, The Fate of the Furious, which holds the record for the highest-grossing worldwide opening of all-time.

MASK, an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, followed the underground task force as they fought against the criminal organization VENOM, which stands for Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem. The franchise ran for three years at Hasbro and spawned a variety of products, including action figures, an animated TV series, comic books and a trilogy of computer games. MASK will join the slew of films adapted by the toy company into films, including the Transformers series and the Ouija films.

Gray is currently working on the pre-production for Sony for the upcoming Men in Black spin-off starring Thor: Ragnarok‘s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in the lead roles with a scheduled release of May 17, 2019.
