The SPIEL gaming fair is coming to Essen, Germany, from October 26–29, and once again Pokémon will be there to host fun Pokémon Trading Card Game events. The big event is the SPIEL Cup on Saturday, October 28, which gives players a chance to earn important Championship Points early in the 2018 season (see chart below), as well as an exclusive trophy and other cool prizes. Plus, all competitors will receive three Pokémon TCG booster packs just for participating. The competition will use the Expanded format, and players will need to bring their own legal 60-card deck and accessories to compete.
The entry fee for the SPIEL Cup is 5€, and players can register in advance at the Play! Pokémon booth at the event or via online registration in advance. On-site registration runs from 10–10:30 a.m., and a mandatory player meeting begins at 10:45. The first round begins at 11. Note that participants must purchase a ticket for admission into the SPIEL fair to compete in the SPIEL Cup.
The SPIEL Cup isn't the only fun competition taking place at the Pokémon booth. There will be quick 8-player events, open gaming, and learn-to-play events throughout the weekend. Pokémon Professors are also invited to compete in the Professor Cup, where our organizers and judges battle using quirky Pokémon TCG rules. Professors should visit the Play! Pokémon Organizer forums for details. Like the SPIEL Cup, participants in side events must have a general admission ticket into the SPIEL fair.
