During an interview with cinematographer Roger Deakins on the Team Deakins podcast, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Spider-Man: Far From Home) revealed that he and Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Arrival) are reuniting on a secret project. The pair previously worked together on the crime drama Prisoners — which earned Deakins an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Cinematography — and 2013’s mystery thriller Enemy.

“There is something we are working on now,” Gyllenhaal said during the podcast, referring to himself and Villeneuve. The star didn’t spill any details about the plot, but earlier this year Villeneuve revealed that he is “definitely dreaming” of directing a smaller movie after helming Blade Runner 2049 and, of course, the upcoming Dune adaptation that is set for release on December 18 (via IndieWire).

The news follows the recent announcement that Gyllenhaal will also be reteaming with another filmmaker, Antoine Fuqua, on a new thriller titled The Guilty. The pair worked together on 2015’s Southpaw, starring Gyllenhaal and directed by Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter.

The Guilty is based on the Danish drama Den Skyldige directed by Gustav Moller and takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger — but he soon discovers that nothing is at it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out. The screenplay is written by Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective). Gyllenhaal and Fuqua are also among the project’s producers.
