Wonder Woman 1984’s Kristen Wiig Talks Cheetah

One of the big mysteries surrounding Wonder Woman 1984 is Kristen Wiig’s take on the villain Cheetah. While we’ve seen a few teases via trailers, the film has yet to unveil the character in all her glory. To keep the intrigue going, Wiig dropped by InStyle and dropped a few teases about the character including some insights into her training regime.

“Eight months in London,” she said when asked about the length of the shoot, “but I had to train for a few months at home first. I was excited to get in shape, but it was really f***ing hard, and there were no days off. My schedule wasn’t like Gal [Gadot]’s by any means, because she was there all day every day. But I had stunt training, and when they’d show me previews of what I’d have to do, I’d be like, ‘Are you insane?’

The conversation then turned to Cheetah, which, naturally, the actress was tight lipped about.

“No, we weren’t allowed to take any pictures,” Wiig said. “This was lockdown. They have it somewhere, and you will see it. But there are different evolutions to my character. I will leave you with that.”

Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking Wonder Woman.

The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Wesley Coller are the executive producers. Patty Jenkins directed from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, based on characters from DC.

The film is set to open in theaters on October 2, 2020.
