Stephen King’s The Revelations of ‘Becka Paulson getting series adaptation
The world of Stephen King is finding a new television home as The CW has begun development on a one-hour series adaptation of the iconic horror author’s short story The Revelations of ‘Becka Paulson, under the working title of Revelations, according to Variety.
Originally published in Rolling Stone in 1984 and later added to the limited edition of Skeleton Crew, The Tommyknockers and I Shudder At Your Touch, the story follows the titular woman who accidentally shoots herself in the brain with a nail gun and subsequently finds she can talk to pictures and begins talking to a 3D image of Jesus sitting atop her television. In the potential series, she will be recruited by the “over-it” messiah to be his chosen one in stopping the apocalypse by proving the Earth is redeemable, beginning with her quirky midwestern hometown.

The pilot is currently being written by Maise Culver, who will also act as co-executive producer while Katie Lovejoy is attached as executive producer and Warner Bros. Television set to produce the project. Culver’s previously worked as a story editor and writer on ABC/Fox’s Last Man Standing.

Should the project go to series, it would be the second time that Revelations has been brought to life on the small screen, with the beloved ’90s revival of The Outer Limits adapting it into an episode starring Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), which was directed by and also starred Steven Weber, who would also star in the miniseries adaptation of King’s The Shining that same year.
It would also mark the latest King work to get a series adaptation in recent years, with CBS All Access currently working on post-production for a new limited series of The Stand, Apple waiting to get back to wrapping Lisey’s Story and Hulu’s Castle Rock and Audience Network’s Mr. Mercedes awaiting word on renewals, with the latter’s home network having shut down in May.
