Following last month’s cancellation of the 19th Annual Tribeca Film Festival due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many films that were included in the festival’s 2020 lineup are now finding ways on how they can be able to showcase their films to buyers and press. According to Deadline, director Gabriel Range’s forthcoming David Bowie biographical drama film Stardust, which was among the films that was supposed to make its debut next week at Tribeca, will now be having a live online red carpet and an invite-only screening that will available for the press and potential buyers.

“Stardust is a highly-anticipated film in the marketplace,” CEO of Film Constellation, Fabien Westerhoff said in a statement. “We’ve reached out to our buyers and are excited to offer them this unique opportunity to engage with Gabriel’s film in a timely, safe and controlled environment. Our first digital market premiere was an overwhelming experiment, with several hundred buyers tuning in simultaneously within 24 hours across five continents. We can’t wait to take this novel buyer experience to the next level with a live component to it.”

Set to take place next Wednesday, the online event will also include a live video introduction featuring the director and the film’s stars Johnny Flynn, Marc Maron and Jena Malone.

After 27 studio albums, 7 Grammy wins and countless hit songs later, David Bowie still being considered as one of the greatest artists of all time and had became a pop culture phenomenon due to the unforgettable changes he brought to the music industry with his unique styles and innovative sound. Bowie had also starred in a number of iconic films such as: the 1986 cult classic Labryrinth; Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ; and 1976’s sci-fi film The Man Who Fell to Earth. In 2006, the “Heroes” singer died at the age of 69 after his 18-month battle with liver cancer.

The film will star Johnny Flynn (True West, Emma) as the legendary music icon David Bowie, Marc Maron (Glow, Almost Famous)  as Ron Oberman, Golden Globe nominee Jena Malone (Hope, Vice) as Bowie’s first wife Angie Barnett and Aaron Poole as Mick Ronson.

Stardust is directed by Gabriel Range (Death of a President), who co-wrote the screenplay with Christopher Bell. The film is produced by Paul Van Carter, Nick Taussig, Matt Code, Daniel Hubbard and Julie Strifer. It is a production by Salon Pictures and financed by Film Constellation.
