New The Simpsons short film set to stream tomorrow on Disney+
Disney+ has announced that the brand new Simpsons animated short film Maggie Simpson in Playdate with Destiny is scheduled to make its debut on the streaming service tomorrow, Friday, April 10. Creator Matt Groening also took to Instagram to personally announce the short film by penning a special handwritten note to fans around the world. The short was originally released in theaters last month before Disney and Pixar’s Onward.
In addition, a family from Canada is fighting boredom with creativity as they recreate the iconic opening sequence of The Simpsons in a new viral video posted by author Joel Sutherland through Twitter which you can check out below.

The film begins on a day that seemed like just another day at the park for Maggie Simpson. But when Maggie faces playground peril, a heroic young baby whisks her from danger — and steals her heart. After a blissful first playdate, Maggie can’t wait to see her new baby beau again the following day, but things don’t go exactly as planned. Will fate (or Homer) get in her way?
Maggie Simpson in Playdate with Destiny builds on the success of the franchise’s 2012 Academy Award-nominated film, Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare, which will also begin streaming on Disney+ later this month.
Created by Matt Groening (Futurama, Disenchantment), The Simpsons has been on-air for more than 30 years and had become a pop-culture phenomenon. The voice cast is consists of Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson, Julie Kavner as his wife Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart and Yeardley Smith as Lisa.

Disney‘s streaming service is the exclusive home in the U.S. for subscription-video-on-demand viewing of the newest live-action and animated series and movies from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Fox. The service is ad-free, supported solely by subscription fees, and will be available on gaming consoles, smart TVs, and connected streaming devices. It has already gained 50 million subscribers after five months since its launched in November 2019.
