I Know This Much Is True teaser: Mark Ruffalo stars in new HBO miniseries

HBO has released the first teaser for creator Derek Cianfrance’s upcoming limited series adaptation of I Know This Much Is True, featuring an emotional story between twin brothers, both portrayed by Golden Globe nominee Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame). Based on Wally Lamb’s best-selling novel of the same name, the six-episode miniseries will be making its debut on April 27. Check out the video in the player below!

Written, directed and executive produced by Derek Cianfrance, I Know This Much Is True will be a family saga that follows the parallel lives of identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, both played by Mark Ruffalo, in an epic story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness set against the backdrop of 20th century America.

The limited series will also star Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter) as twin brothers’ mother named Concettina Ipolita Tempesta Birdsey and Oscar nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping) as Nedra Frank along with Emmy winners Rosie O’Donnell (SMILF) as Lisa Sheffer, and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) as Dr. Patel. It will also feature Emmy nominee Kathryn Hahn (Mrs. Fletcher) as Dessa Constantine and Imogen Poots (Roadies) as Joy Hanks.

Ruffalo will pull triple duty by executive producing and starring in the series as the aforementioned twins. Lamb will produce alongside the actor, FilmNation Entertainment’s Ben Browning and Glen Basner, and Gregg Feinberg and Anya Epstein. Lynette Howell Taylor and Jamie Patricof co-executive produced.

Lamb is the author of six bestselling novels: “I’ll Take You There,” “We Are Water,” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” “The Hour I First Believed,” “I Know This Much Is True,” and “She’s Come Undone.” Lamb also edited “Couldn’t Keep It to Myself” and “I’ll Fly Away.”
