Colin Trevorrow gets official story credit in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

While he might be off busy with concluding another franchise in Jurassic World 3, Colin Trevorrow was able to carve out time in his schedule to help develop the story for the highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and it’s been revealed his work was extensive enough to earn him an official story credit, according to Collider.

Trevorrow exited the project in September 2017 after creative differences, and Abrams revealed in a previous interview with Fast Company that he and the crew had to begin production without a script. Despite this, the Jurassic World narrative head had turned in numerous drafts to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy before exiting. The final credits include story by Trevorrow, Derek Connelly, Chris Terrio and Abrams and screenplay by Abrams and Terrio. With Trevorrow’s credit on the film, it reveals the Writers Guild of America believes the story incorporates enough elements from his previous scripts to earn a story credit.

In addition to directing, Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio (ArgoJustice League) from a story by himself, Terrio, Derek Connelly and Colin Trevorrow. Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, and Abrams will produce, with Callum Greene and Jason McGatlin executive producing. Composer John Williams, who has scored every chapter in the Star Wars saga since 1977’s A New Hope, will return to a galaxy far, far away with Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
