Justin Lin spotted with “Justice for Han” shirt on Fast & Furious 9 set

Though a major box office success earlier this year, many fans voiced their complaints about the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw delivering a lack of justice for the death of Sung Kang’s Han Lue at the hands of Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, and it appears even the director of the upcoming ninth installment is voicing his displeasure with it in a new Fast & Furious 9 set video showing Justin Lin wearing a shirt calling for “Justice for Han,” which can be viewed below!

Given that Lin was the one who first pitched the character of Han for the franchise while working on the third installment, Tokyo Drift, and has teased that the character carries over from his 2002 crime drama Better Luck Tomorrow, it’s justified the writer/director would show distaste for the lack of any justice being sought after for his slick hero.

Fast & Furious 9 was originally set to hit theaters on April 19 but was pushed back a year to make room for the first spin-off in the series, Hobbs & Shaw, which is now scheduled to hit theaters on August 2. As a result, Fast & Furious 9 will be getting a May 2020 release with Justin Lin returning to directing in the franchise, after helming Fast & Furious parts 3 through 6. Dan Casey will pen the screenplay from a story by Lin.

While the upcoming ninth film in the franchise won’t feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as he’s busy with first spinoff, Hobbs & Shawthis one will feature John Cena. So, call it an even trade.

Production on Fast & Furious 9 is currently underway, and is due out in theaters on May 22, 2020.
