Jeph Loeb set to exit Marvel Television following Kevin Feige’s promotion

It has already been a week since it was reported that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been promoted into a brand new position as Chief Creative Officer of Marvel which will move Marvel Television and Marvel Family Entertainment under Feige’s control. Because of this news, many are wondering how this will affect the future of Marvel Television and its ongoing TV shows and upcoming projects.

According to Variety, one of the first changes will start with long-time Marvel executive Jeph Loeb, who is expected to soon make his departure as the head of Marvel Television and will be open for an overall deal with a new company. Loeb has been with Marvel Entertainment since 2010. He is the executive producer behind Marvel TV shows such as Agents of SHIELD and Netflix’s six Defenders shows, which are now all cancelled with Agents of SHIELD set to end next year with its seventh and final season.

Feige will now be in charge of the overall creative direction of Marvel’s storytelling across publishing, film, TV, animation and all mediums. He will continue to report to Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn and co-chairman Alan Bergman.

Dan Buckley will remain president of Marvel Entertainment and will report to Feige as well as overseeing publishing operations, sales, creative services, games, licensing and events. Joe Quesada will remain as executive vice president and creative director for Marvel Entertainment and will report to Buckley.

Marvel Television will seemingly be focused on animated for the immediate future, which includes four adult animated series, namely Howard the Duck, MODOK, Hit-Monkey, and Tigra the Dazzler for Hulu. The four series will then crossover in The Offenders.

However, Marvel TV also still has two ongoing live-action series set up at Hulu: Marvel’s Runaways and the upcoming Helstrom. It is still unclear how Kevin Feige’s promotion and Loeb’s exit will factor into the future of these shows.
