Comedy-drama Lodge 49 cancelled after two seasons at AMC

Following the second season finale of Lodge 49 last October 14, Deadline reports that AMC has decided not to give Jim Gavin’s comedy-drama for a third season renewal. The outlet also notes that Gavin along with showrunner Peter Ocko and executive producer Paul Giamatti are reportedly planning to shop the series to other networks.

“We are so proud to have had Lodge 49 on our air,” AMC said in a statement. “This wonderful show gave audiences fresh and unforgettable characters in a world that did not exist anywhere else on television. Thanks to the stellar cast including Wyatt Russell, Sonya Cassidy and Brent Jennings and to our partners in this unique labor of love, Jim Gavin, Peter Ocko and Paul Giamatti for two remarkable seasons that initiated the world into The Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx.”

Written, created, and executive produced by Jim GavinLodge 49 is a modern fable set in Long Beach and centers on Dud (Wyatt Russell), a likable ex-surfer who found himself deposited by fate at the doorstep of Lodge 49, home to the Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx, a dusty dying fraternal order.

Season two of this modern fable finds Dud, now a “Squire,” and the Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx suffering under new rule by an ill-suited leader. Despite the lost faith of his “Knight” and mentor, Ernie (Brent Jennings), and his twin sister Liz’s (Sonya Cassidy) struggle with their past, Dud believes he is the key to restoring the Lodge to its former grandeur and putting the rightful king on the throne.
