Charmed Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
Last season, Charmed ended with the sisters in charge after the deaths of the Elders. Charmed is back with Season 2 Episode 1, which set up a new setting for the show as the Charmed Ones found themselves in “witch-ness protection”.
Assassin
Three weeks after the events of the season 1 finale, the sisters have moved on. Maggie celebrated her birthday with a big house party, and Macy confessed to her that she’d landed her dream job in Ann Arbor, two hours away. Mel, on the other hand, had leaned into the responsibility of filling the Elders’ void. She listened to a witch, whose whitelighter, Angus, had gone missing.
The next day, an assassin came to the house and attacked. The Charmed Ones tried to use the Power of Three, but it had little effect on him. The assassin threw a fireball at the Book of Shadows, igniting it and causing a portal to appear. Harry held off the assassin as the sisters went through the portal. The assassin had nicked Macy’s leg with a crossbow bolt as she jumped through. Harry slowed him down, but the assassin eventually stabbed him.
Witch-ness Protection
The portal took the Charmed Ones to space created by the Elders. They didn’t have their powers, and they couldn’t read the spellbook there. They left the room, and the door disappeared. The sisters went through another door and ended up in a communal workspace for creatives called SafeSpace Seattle. They joined a tour, but when Macy’s injury started to become a problem, Maggie left to find a first aid kit. She got one from a boxing instructor, Jordan, who didn’t trust her story.
Mel snagged a keycard from the tour guide, Swan, and borrowed a phone from a magic shop owner, Katrina. Unfortunately, she couldn’t get ahold of Harry. When Mel and Maggie went to find Macy, she had left and almost got hit by taxi while following a voice only she could hear.
The Map
With the use of the keycard, the sisters were able to access the protective room again. A map in front of them lit up red and a button presented itself. They pushed it and opened a portal to a bed and breakfast in Vermont. The sisters found two dead witches. The demonic rats that killed the witch owners went after the Charmed Ones. Macy’s demonic powers were still intact, and Harry had been able to track the sisters when she used them. Harry healed Macy, and they all were able to escape through another portal.
Harry explained that the protective space was meant as a free pass for witches. They could live normal lives without their powers if they chose to. All the whitelighters had been killed. He had died too but ended up back in his grave. The lights on the map represented all the witches left in the world, and they needed protection now that all the whitelighters were gone. The Charmed Ones and their house were moving to Seattle for the time being. At the end of the episode, we saw that the assassin was Harry, a very different version of him.
