It: Chapter Two eyeing $110 million opening weekend

It: Chapter Two is looking to make a pretty penny(wise) at the box office next month, with Variety reporting it could take in anywhere from $95 million to $110 million. That’s impressive for an R-rated horror flick, just not quite as good as the $123 million the first film took in back in September of 2017. In total, the first It raked in $700 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror film of all time.

This is particularly good news after a lackluster summer box office, where Disney franchises once again made billions of dollars and… well, that’s about it.

Twenty-seven years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise, he has returned to terrorize the town of Derry once more, long after they’d gone their separate ways. However, when people start disappearing again, Mike, the only one to remain in their hometown, calls the others home. Damaged by the experiences of their past, they must each conquer their deepest fears to destroy Pennywise once and for all. Which puts them directly in the path of the shape-shifting clown that has become deadlier than ever.
