If you’re a PC gamer, getting the right gaming keyboard is one of the most important things you can do. Once you know the type of keyboard to get, next up is turning it into something flashy, and that’s where the HyperX Double-Shot PBT Keycaps come in. The one we got to try out was the Keycaps in White, and it makes your HyperX mechanical gaming keyboard setup more colorful and brighter.
The HyperX Double-Shot PBT Keycaps in White is compatible with all HyperX mechanical gaming keyboards, and we used it on the HyperX Alloy FPS RGB keyboard. This keyboard features LED and RGB lighting, and it’s able to show off different colors like a rainbow spectrum or solid colors changing to another. The stock keycaps does allow light to come through, but the translucent dual-layer design from the HyperX Double-Shot PBT Keycaps shine even brighter. If you want a light show, you’ll get a light show. And the keycaps’ pudding design is oil resistant, making the lettering last longer.
Installing them is really simple since it comes with a keycap removal tool. Just place it over a keycap, push it down until it clicks, and pull it out. Of course, you’ll need to do this one by one, and if you have a full keyboard with 104 keys, it can get repetitive. Also, make sure the keycaps are firmly in place, especially the bigger ones like the space bar and tabs. My shift keycap wasn’t fully in place, and I thought I was having issues with the caps lock key.
I tested out the HyperX Alloy FPS RGB keyboard on Counter-Strike, and since it has Kailh Silver Speed keyswitches, it’s very sensitive to input. This makes it suitable for quick reflexes and faster action, which is great for players with fast hand-eye coordination. It’s also very quiet, so pressing the keys won’t be annoying if someone is around you. However, it’s not recommended for typing due to the keys being very sensitive, and resting your hands on it is a big no-no.
Combining the HyperX Alloy FPS RGB keyboard with the HyperX Double Shot PBT Keycaps in White will show off your setup while still offering greater controls for gaming.
