Gridopolis brings 3D board games to family game nights

Board games are one of those past times that bring friends and families together for a night of fun. They can be highly challenging and at the same time, extremely fun. Sadly enough, to this day, board games haven’t really made any advancements in the way we interact and play them. Gridopolis Games approached board games from numerous angles to launch an entirely new multiplayer 3D strategy game and system called “Gridopolis.”

Gridopolis is a flexible and modular gaming system that will allow players to change the 3D-playing space during gameplay. They’ll even have the chance to design their own game completely from scratch. Gridopolis incorporates the rules of popular games such as checkers, chess, and Tic-tac-toe. The game is intended for children ages 8 and up, which makes it the perfect game for the entire family.

The game was designed and founded by Dave Schultze, an architect who holds a masters in industrial design from the prestigious Art Center College of Art & Design in Pasadena, CA. He teaches a weekly class in 3D Visualization at OTIS College of Art & Design in Los Angeles.

“Gridopolis is the result of three years of design, development, and testing,” Said Schultze. “During this time, the game was thoroughly evaluated by many people, including the Toy Design students where I teach at OTIS College of Art and Design. We were able to see what worked ─ and didn’t work ─ and then refined it even more.

Gridopolis has already won two gold awards at the International Design Awards for the board game and educational game categories. It has a Mom’s Choice Gold Award for family-friendly products and is a STEM.org authorized product. Currently, Gridopolis Games is running a Kickstarter campaign where at the time of this article, it has already raised $12,051 of its $15,000 goal with 8 days left.

Fans of board games who are looking to challenge themselves with Gridopolis can contribute to the Kickstarter campaign at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gridopolis/gridopolis
