Spider-Man: Far From Home in 4DX swings you right into the action

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters today, and there’s no doubt that it will be one of the biggest movies this summer. As the next movie to follow the emotional Avengers: End Game, Spider-Man is sure to continue the powerhouse that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, you can read our review of the movie here. When it comes to seeing the movie, you’ll have quite a few options in which way you can see. Whether that’s in IMAX, 3D, 3D IMAX, or standard format, there’s honestly no wrong way to enjoy the movie. But if you really want to experience everything that Spider-Man has to offer, then you should consider seeing it in glorious 4DX.

If you’re not familiar with the format, 4DX takes blockbuster movies and amps it up to eleven by engaging your senses with environmental stimulation. You’ll be bombarded with chair movements, gushes of air, and even water effects. You can expect Spider-Man: Far From Home to have plenty of action, and if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, then this is the perfect chance. For some, 4DX might serve as a distraction for the movie, taking you away from the storyline and not letting you engage with the story and character development. But 4DX does a wonderful job of balancing the two. When it comes to pivotal moments that move it along, your experience is calm and collective, but when the action picks up, you’ll want to make sure you’re hanging on tight because you’ll be taken for a ride.

My favorite parts about the experience, of course, came during the action scenes, as this is where you’ll get the real bang for your buck. 4DX does its best to make you feel like you’re the web-crawler himself. As he swings across the sky, your seats are perfectly coordinated to toss you around. When Spider-Man shoots his web, you’ll get gushes of air to give you that feeling that you’re shooting them yourself. When the movie throws in water or fire, get prepared to get wet and feel some heat.

One thing that really surprised me about 4DX’s commitment to give you the best movie experience was when Spider-Man was getting hit. As this was going on in the movie, the chair would produce these small jab-like movements into your back. It’s a subtle gesture that doesn’t produce an uncomfortable sensation, but it’s still enough to let you feel like you’re right there with Spider-Man taking the hits.

Final Reaction

With the advances in movie cameras and projectors, films have turned into a massive spectacle, but we still limit ourselves to enjoying them while in the comfort of a chair. Spider-Man: Far From Home in 4DX takes that mundane concept and throws it out the window. It replaces it with a thrilling and enjoying ride that is on the same level as an amusement park ride. Spider-Man isn’t the first movie that we’ve seen in 4DX, but it was still able to produce an entirely different experience. If you’ve ever wanted to change your perspective on movie watching and gain a new sense of what it means to see and feel a movie, then 4DX is going to be right up your alley. Because once you see your first movie in the format, things will never feel the same again.
