Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain is a narrative game that featured main characters that could die if you mess up. However, it was only just two characters who could actually die. Supermassive Games took that concept to the next level with Until Dawn, starring Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, and it’s a narrative horror game with an ensemble cast where anyone can die. Yes, you can literally end up with all your characters dying in the game. The developer’s next game, The Dark Pictures Anthology – Man of Medan, is going smaller with the cast, but there will still be deadly consequences for all the characters. A new developer diary has been released, and it features a teaser of what the Curator’s Cut is all about.
In the dev diary video, you’ll see how the Curator’s Cut will allow you to play as a different character who wasn’t controllable in the director’s cut. There will be choices and consequences, and this will result in possible deadly paths for the characters. Check out the video below.
The Curator’s Cut will be available first for those who pre-order The Dark Pictures Anthology – Man of Medan. Even if you don’t have plans of pre-ordering, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Supermassive Games will release the Curator’s Cut at a later date for everyone to enjoy.
The game is developed by Supermassive Games and features performance capture and likeness from Shawn Ashmore (X-Men, Quantum Break) and Pip Torrens (The Crown, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as the Curator. Man of Medan is a standalone game, and it’s part of an anthology where anyone can die or live.
The Dark Pictures Anthology – Man of Medan will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam on August 30, 2019.
