A Donald Glover cameo was considered for Spider-Man: Far From Home

As the film continues to wow audiences around the world, Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have been tackling fan theories for the planned third installment in the webslinger series and discussing what almost was done in the blockbuster, namely a big-name cameo.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McKenna and Sommers revealed that Donald Glover (The Lion King)’s Aaron Davis from the predecessor, Homecoming, was almost brought back for the film, but that during the scripting process realized his appearance wouldn’t be the right fit for the story.

We went down that road a little bit, then the movie really spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up,” McKenna said.

That’s really what it came down to,” Sommers said. We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible. There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (purchase here), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has been forever changed.
