Good Omens Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
In the previous episode of Amazon’s Good Omens, Aziraphale and Crowley realized they’d been raising the wrong Anti-Christ. In Good Omens Season 1 Episode 2, we’re introduced to Agnes Nutter’s book of prophecies as Aziraphale and Crowley continued their search for the real Anti-Christ.
The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Agnes Nutter was a witch living in 1655. A Witchfinder, Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer found her and burned her at the stake. Unfortunately, Agnes had sewn gunpowder and roofing nails into the hem of her dress and caused a large explosion. She left behind her book of prophecies that were 100% accurate. Her family vowed to study her prophecies.
In the present day, Adultery’s descendent, Newton Pulsifer, was starting his first day as a wages clerk, but he didn’t want to use the computer because he’d break it. After losing his job on the first day, he met Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell. Newton decided to become a Witchfinder too.
The Spanish Inquisition
Adam and his friends, Brian, Wensleydale, and Pepper were in the woods playing Spanish Inquisition and pretending to catch and burn witches. They came across Anathama Device, a descendant of Agnes Nutter. She was a witch whose family had invested in Apple because of one of Agnes’s prophecies. Anathema he had traveled from Malibu to the UK to find the Anti-Christ. She was in the woods trying to locate the Anti-Christ, but the swamp was interfering with her device.
Number of the Beast
Aziraphale and Crowley were still looking for the Anti-Christ. Gabriel told Aziraphale that Heaven was monitoring the situation, and all was going according to the Divine Plan. They visited the Satanic convent to find records. It was now a paintball facility, and Crowley had turned the paintball guns into real ones. Aziraphale and Crowley found the former Satanic nun who had switched the babies.
On their way to Taddsfield, they accidentally crashed into Anathema on her bicycle. Aziraphale healed her and the bike and offered her a ride in Crowley’s car. Unfortunately, Anathema left behind the only copy of Agnes Nutter’s book. Aziraphale, a collector of prophetic books, found it and hid it from Crowley. Back at the bookshop, Aziraphale read the prophecies. It referenced the number of the beast, and he used that and the Bible to figure out Adam’s phone number.
War
The next step towards Armageddon was the Four Horsemen. War was a war correspondent attending the signing of a peace treaty. An argument broke out over who would sign it first and caused a standoff. A delivery man brought a sword for her and interrupted the standoff. As she left, they all killed each other.
