Ali Wong has made a name for herself, especially with her Netflix stand-up specials, Baby Cobra and Hard Knock Wife. Randall Park co-stars in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat and was featured in movies like Aquaman and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Now the two will come together in Always Be My Maybe, the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy. A new trailer has been released, and we get a special cameo appearance from Keanu Reeves himself.
The trailer features Wong and Park as two old friends who see each other for the first time in years. At first, things are awkward, but the two slowly start to fall for each other. That is until we get to the end of the trailer with John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves, as Wong’s new love interest. This is probably one of the best cinematic intros ever for an actor.
Synopsis: Childhood friends Sasha and Marcus have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old pal — a happily complacent musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks — and maybe some new ones — are there.
The film is directed by Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat, Don’t Trust the B____ in Apt. 23) and written by Ali Wong, Randall Park and Michael Golamco (Grimm, Please Stand By). It stars Ali Wong, Randall Park, Michelle Buteau (Broad City), Vivian Bang (White Rabbit), Karan Soni (Deadpool 2), Charlyne Yi (Paper Heart), Daniel Dae Kim (Hellboy, Lost), James Saito (While We’re Young), with Keanu Reeves (John Wick) and Lyrics Born.
Always Be My Maybe will premiere on Netflix on May 31, 2019.
