Cloak and Dagger Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
Cloak and Dagger Season 2 Episode 8 sees Ty in mortal danger after finding Tandy in the motel. Brigid arrives at the crime scene, recognizes the pair’s handywork, and meets up with them at the church. Unable to find her Auntie, Evita grabs a few items from the shop and heads to the church to try and help Ty.
Player Two
Evita draws Papa Legba’s veve around Ty and gives Tandy candy to pay the loa’s price for guidance in finding Ty. Tandy and Brigid jump into the darkness and pay tribute to Legba, who sends each woman on her own path in the darkness. Tandy ends up in an arcade ran by Baron Samedi. A figurine of Ty sits in the prize case. Tandy tries to bargain with Samedi — if I beat you at one of these games, let her and Ty go. Samedi changes the deal. Tandy must play alongside Ty. If she can convince Ty to leave, then Samedi will let the both of them go.
Tandy begs Ty to leave, but Ty wants to stay, where there is no pain, no trouble, and he doesn’t lose. Tandy joins Ty and the two play a video game based on their life together. They fight through the first two levels, taking down street thugs, and end up in the motel where the two face Andre as the boss of the game. Tandy drops out of the game, unable to force herself to confront Andre. Ty gets upset at Tandy, but rather than either having to face the world without the other in it, Tandy says that if Ty wants o stay here, then she’ll stay with him.
Only One Will Save Your Man
Watching over Ty, Evita calls upon Legba again to help guide her. The answer in the shells comes from Auntie instead. Auntie is dead at Andre’s hands, but she tells Evita not to mourn for her. Auntie is dancing with the ancestors now. She tells Evita that it is her time to step up as mambo. Evita protests. She has plans to got o medical school and have a life. Auntie tells Evita that the choice is hers, but only one choice can save Ty. As mambo, Evita has to marry herself to a loa, and in order to save Ty, that loa is Samedi.
Evita prepares the ritual and promises herself to Samedi. In the arcade, the wedding bouquet takes the place of Ty’s figurine in the prize cabinet. A life has been given in exchange for a life. Samedi kicks Tandy and Ty out of the darkness and back to teh church.
Poison
In the darkness, Brigid is teleported to the mall, where Mayhem explains the record store and how Andre uses the pain and despair of the women he abducts to gain power. Brigid knows that the world needs more of Mayhem and less of Brigid right now, so Brigid lets her in. The two emerge from the darkness into the church as one person with Mayhem driving. Mayhem promises Tandy that they’re going to get Andre.
Meanwhile, Andre and Lia are fleeing New Orleans when Andre is incapacitated by his headaches. Hegets Lia to reluctantly agree to let him torture her in order for him to experience relief. He leaves her unconscious body beside the road as he drives away, having figured out that the symbols in the veve on the locked record store door are music notes. He believes he has the key to the door that will allow him to become a loa.
