The Jurassic World films have made a lot of money for Universal, with both films having a combined box office gross of over $2.9 billion worldwide. Universal Studios Hollywood is currently working on bringing that universe to fans with Jurassic World – The Ride, which is replacing Jurassic Park – The Ride. The amusement park has announced that Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong, who were central characters in the Jurassic World films, are reprising their roles in the new ride when it comes out this summer.
Jurassic World – The Ride will have Owen, Claire and Dr. Wu helping guests with facts and information about the different dinosaurs, and it will feature a new storyline set in the Jurassic World universe. New dinosaurs from the film will be added including the Indominus rex and the aquatic Mosasaurus, which will be held inside a glass water tank filled with 3.5 million gallons of water.
Universal Creative has teamed up with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to create a realistic Mosasaurus. The motion parallax technique will shift the guest’s perspective to give the illusion that the sea dinosaur is swimming around in the tank. Since the ride operates in the day and night, there will be lighting enhancements along with visual changes to adapt to the real-life weather at the park, whether it’s raining or the sky is clear
Other updates for Jurassic World – The Ride include a contemporary redesign of the Jurassic World gates, stonework landscaping, and a fresh entry statement. The spirit of the Jurassic Park – The Ride will still be present including the rafts and the 84-foot drop from the top of the waterfall with the special appearance from the Tyrannosaurus rex… only this time it’s going up against a new threat.
