The Dead are already here in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 preview

Game of Thrones s8e3

Throughout the Game of Thrones series, the White Walkers and the wights have been a growing and deadly threat far from the world of Westeros. Many still consider the creatures as just a fable, but now the moment is finally here for Westeros to witness the might of the Dead. HBO has released the preview for Season 8 Episode 3 of Game of Thrones, which will have the armies from the North finally battling the White Walkers and the wights at Winterfell.

Last night’s Game of Thrones was a bit on the slow slide to get the soldiers ready to defend the North. The White Walkers are walking south from the Wall, and their next target is Winterfell, the castle belonging to House Stark. Jon Snow finally knows of his true heritage, Aria wants a new weapon while also getting the chance to have some fun with Gendry, Brienne of Tarth finally becomes a knight, and Daenerys is concerned about Jon’s revelation.

The second episode gave many characters their moment to relax before the inevitable war against the dead. Characters will interact with others to ease the tension and their differences including Jamie Lannister & Bran Stark, Sansa Stark & Daenerys Targaryen, and Arya Stark & the Hound. There were a lot of quiet moments in the episode, with The Hound even acknowledging that Aria is less chatty as usual. It’s the perfect example of the quiet before the storm. With the soldiers coming together and growing stronger, will this be enough to stop the deadly invaders?

The preview shows the scope of the battle as we see a large army made up of the North, Unsullied, and Dothraki. Daenerys warns to Jon that the Dead are already here, with Ser Brienne of Tarth leading a battalion.

In addition to the preview, HBO has also released Inside the Episode, where the crew talks about episode 2’s story.

Those who watched last night’s episode were also treated to a song titled “Jenny of Oldstones” sung by Podrick. A version by Florence + the Machine was featured during the end credits.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO. The third episode is the next one, and after that, there will be three more episodes with a total of just six episodes for the eighth and final season.
