Fans got to see Alfred kicking ass on Fox’s Gotham. In the series, we get a slightly younger version of Alfred Pennyworth who handles street justice alongside the teenage Bruce Wayne. The show was developed by Bruno Heller (HBO’s Rome), and he is joining Danny Cannon to help bring a new series to life on Epix called Pennyworth. The series follows Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s butler, on his adventures as a former British SAS soldier in his 20s. Epix has announced that the show will premiere on July 28th while also releasing a new teaser trailer.
The 30-second teaser trailer takes viewers to London, and we see Thomas Wayne proposing a job for Alfred. It should be interesting to see a DC show set in London as compared to the usual DC cities like Gotham and Metropolis.
Synopsis: It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.
Joining Jack Bannon (The Imitation Game) are Ben Aldridge (Our Girl, Fleabag), Paloma Faith, Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Polly Walker (The Mentalist, Rome) and Emma Corrin (The Crown).
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is producing the series in the UK, making it the first television series to film at Leavesden.
The series will have 10 hour-long episodes and is based on the DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.
Gotham’s fifth and final season is ending with the finale this Thursday. However, fans can get more of Batman in the second season of DC Universe’s Titans.
Pennyworth premieres on Epix on July 28, 2019, at 9 p.m. PT/ET, 8 C.
