Netflix is a juggernaut in the streaming world, and its catalogue of films and series is getting larger and larger. We’re already getting some anime-inspired series like Castlevania, which is based on the Konami video game. Soon anime fans will get to see a live-action adaptation of the popular and beloved anime series, Cowboy Bebop. It’s announced that John Cho will portray Spike Spiegel along with news of who will be playing Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Vicious.
John Cho (Star Trek, Searching) is set to play Spike Spiegel, the main protagonist and cool bounty hunter.
Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) will be playing Jet Black, who is always trying to maintain peace in the Bebop ship.
Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) is portraying Faye Valentine, the dangerous beauty with a murderous past. Okay, so all the characters have mysterious backgrounds.
As for who will be playing Vicious, the rival of Spike who loves to use a sword over a gun? Alex Hassell from The Miniaturist and Suburbicon.
Cowboy Bebop is based on the popular anime series from director Shinichiro Watanabe and Sunrise that combines Western, sci-fi, space, action and drama. Oh, we can’t forget about the blues music with composer Yoko Kanno. It follows a dysfunctional group of bounty hunters that travel to different planets looking for the next bounty.
Alex Garcia Lopez (The Witcher, Marvel’s Daredevil and The Punisher) is attached as the director of the first two episodes. The series is written and executive produced by Chris Yost.
