DC Universe’s Swamp Thing teaser trailer released after reports of reduced episodes

Swamp Thing DC Universe

A lot of news is coming out for DC Universe’s Swamp Thing. We have the official release of the teaser trailer and reports of Warner Bros. Television reducing the episode count of 13 to 10 due to creative differences.

First up is the Swamp Thing reveal. This teaser trailer is very much a teaser, as the camera slowly moves around the swamp. As it’s headed towards the water, we see Swamp Thing rising above and looking very creepy. It definitely gives audiences a taste of what’s to come in terms of the dark tone and the look of the titular antihero.

This teaser trailer comes after reports of WB Television cutting off three episodes from the originally planned thirteen. According to THR, a source claims that the series episodes were reduced due to creative differences.

The show stars Andy Bean (It: Chapter 2) as Alec Holland, the biologist who transforms into Swamp Thing. Playing the green creature is Derek Mears (Alita: Battle Angel, The CW’s The Flash). Joining them are Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade and Kevin Durand.

Madsen made an Instagram post (which is now deleted) that hinted at the show getting episodes cut.

“I’m beyond sad. What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp.”

Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) are the co-writers, executive producers and co-showrunners for Swamp Thing. Len Wiseman is executive producing and directing the pilot. Other executive producers include Atomic Monster’s James Wan (Aquaman), Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett.

DC Universe is growing its library, and this week it released Justice League vs the Fatal Five, the newest DC Original Animated Movie. It’s also opening up to more platforms including the Xbox family. Titans is renewed for a second season and Stargirl is coming in 2020.

Swamp Thing is a DC character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and the series is set to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service on May 31, 2019.
