Death Stranding is the highly anticipated game from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions. Trailers have been released, and it has created a lot of confusion and excitement for the video game community. (This is Hideo Kojima we’re talking about here.) The PlayStation 4 game will star Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) as he tries to make sense of it all. Fans following the game can find out more when Kojima and Reedus make an appearance at Tribeca Film Festival for its Tribeca Games event on April 25th in New York City.
Geoff Keighley, the producer of The Game Awards, has been a big supporter of Kojima, even calling out Konami during the 2015’s The Game Awards. He will be moderating the panel called Tribeca Games Presents: Hideo Kojima with Norman Reedus. Kojima and Reedus will discuss pushing the envelope for the game as well as their growing relationship during the game’s production.
The panel will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. ET. It’ll be located at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers St, New York, NY 10007. You can purchase tickets at tribecafilm.com/festival.
There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the game, and from what we’ve seen from the trailers, there will be a lot of weird things happening around Reedus’ character, Sam. The game also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Lindsay Wagner, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins and Emily O’Brien with Guillermo del Toro.
“People that play [action] games will be able to pick it up easily,” Kojima tells IGN. “After that, like 2-3 hours into the game, they will start feeling like, ‘okay, this is something different, this is something new.'”
Kojima is a big fan of films, with many directors putting Kojima Easter eggs in their films. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, an alien shouts “Kojima,” and in Kong: Skull Island, a boat is named Gray Fox after a Metal Gear Solid character. The Tribeca Film Festival is the perfect place for Kojima.
